From her manga works like 'Termae Romae' and 'Olympia Kyklos' to her autobiographical essays, Yamazaki's creative activities are infused with her diverse encounters and intense experiences. She sees herself as a 'nomadic' artist with a 'global' worldview, and her works reflect this perspective.

Mari Yamazaki was born in 1967 in Tokyo. She is a manga artist, writer, and painter. She has been a visiting professor at Nihon Women's University and a guest professor at Tokyo Zokei University. She has won numerous awards, including the 'Manga Taisho 2010' and the '14th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize Short Story Award' for 'Termae Romae' in 2010, and the 'Art Selection Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award' in 2015. She is based in Italy and Japan.
