Three flames +1

This exhibition expands on BIEN’s previous engagement with Ryūnosuke Akutagawa’s short story 'In a Grove,' translating the narrative’s structure into the process of making the works themselves.

BIEN focuses on the outlines of characters, symbols, and other elements, deconstructing and reconstructing their shapes and meanings to create abstract works. He questions notions of representation across various media, including video, sculpture, instruction, and installation.

BIEN has been working for over a decade, incorporating diverse cultural contexts into his artistic approach. He has exhibited internationally, including a solo exhibition in London.
