Akai Mono

Using unique hand-printed textiles, the artists create installations and small-scale series on paper and canvas. The works combine soft and quiet tones with bright and energetic colors, highlighting the diverse emotional nuances of a single color. The handmade production style allows for spontaneous inspiration and incorporates elements of chance, giving each work a unique character.

Matti Pikkujämsä and Jenni Rope met in 1999 at the University of Art and Design (now Aalto University) and have continued to collaborate on exhibitions and drawing events, experimenting with art and design through handmade techniques such as silk screen printing.
