The Hue of Shade 2
This exhibition introduces 'color' into the monochromatic and blue-toned worlds Miyake has developed to date, with a new video work that combines negative-positive inversion with color toning, alongside a new series of cyanotypes.
Miyake explores the 'painterly image' that emerges through the process of images being shared, using techniques such as photograms, cyanotypes, and video works that extend photographic techniques into time-based media.
Miyake received her MFA from the Graduate School of Fine Arts at Kyoto City University of Arts in 2000. She currently lives and works in Kyoto. She has participated in numerous exhibitions, including solo exhibitions at WAITINGROOM and ARTRO, and has received several awards, including the 'Kyoto Prefecture Culture Prize for Effort' in 2016.
