About this exhibition

Naofumi Maruyama includes new works in the exhibition. Ritsue Mishima's glass sculptures and Kan Yasuda's marble and bronze sculptures are featured.

The artists

Naofumi Maruyama uses the stain technique with cotton cloths soaked in water and acrylics to create soft, abstract figurative paintings that dissolve boundaries between subject and object. Kan Yasuda creates smooth, gravity-defying marble and bronze sculptures. Ritsue Mishima uses Venetian glass to create translucent sculptures that interact with light and space.

Naofumi Maruyama has been a Professor in the Painting Department at the Musashino Art University since 2000 and received The Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technologyʼs Art Encouragement Prize for New Artists in 2008. Ritsue Mishima received the Fondazione di Venezia award for the best project in the Venice section of The Italian Glass Weeks in 2022 and the BVLGARI AVRORA AWARDS 2022. Kan Yasuda is based in Pietrasanta, Italy, and has held exhibitions internationally, particularly in Europe.
