Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Okuda has turned her gaze increasingly toward the familiar and immediate aspects of everyday life, depicting the seemingly ordinary world unfolding at her feet and bringing viewers a renewed sense of freshness and clarity.

Okuda depicts landscapes from places she has visited, particularly vast expanses of sea and mountains, together with human figures rendered through her distinctive treatment of light and shadow. The figures within these natural settings are depicted minimally against the grandeur of the landscape, yet become seamlessly integrated with their surroundings.

Ayako Okuda has had solo exhibitions at GAMOYON gallery, Osaka (2025), GALLERY MoMo Projects, Tokyo (2022), Koichi Fine Arts, Osaka (2021), and others since 2003.
