The exhibition features a series of paintings created between 2025 and 2026, during which the maturity of image-generating AI dramatically advanced. These works reflect the current and future state of portrait painting in the context of technological evolution.
The artist creates works based on AI-generated 'faces of non-existent people,' overlaying his own choices and hand-drawn traces. He explores the relationship between digital images and painting, and questions why we perceive non-existent people as human.
Based in Okayama Prefecture, Takafumi Tsuji has been active in various exhibitions, including solo shows in 2021 and 2026, and group exhibitions in Osaka, Okayama, Tokyo, and Taipei. He has participated in art fairs in Kyoto, Osaka, and Taipei, and was awarded the 'THE blank GALLERY Sato Jury Prize' at the 2025 Osaka Different Kyotani-Hori Art Fair.
