theme Patio Series
The exhibition features two new box-shaped works from the 'Patio Series' made of wood, iron, lead, and wax.
Kiyoshi KAWASHIMA uses heavy materials such as iron, lead, wood, and wax to create sculptures that construct spaces through words woven through the body. His drawings are also presented as sculptures on paper or boards, not merely as preparatory sketches for sculptures.
Kiyoshi KAWASHIMA received a grant from the Asian Cultural Council in 1986-88 and participated in the P.S.1 project in New York. He has exhibited at various museums including the Iwaki City Museum of Art, the Roma Folklore Museum, and the Dusseldorf Art Museum. He also held a major solo exhibition in 2016 at the Kawagoe City Museum of Art and the Iwaki City Museum of Art.
