A sense of borning
Having recently experienced the major life milestone of childbirth, Nakamura is continuing to expand her expressive range while navigating the transformations of her own mind and body. In this exhibition, she presents a series of new works that distill the authentic sensations experienced through pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting—extracted from journals, memos, and everyday records—and translate them onto canvas.
She paints as a way to clarify her current emotions through the lens of words she jots down in her daily life. Her primary motifs are creature-like flowers and expressionless women.
Born in Tokyo in 1991. Graduated from Kuwasawa Design School, Department of Visual Design. After working at a graphic design firm, she established her career as a painter and illustrator based in Japan and across Asia.
