About this exhibition

The works in this exhibition are inspired by the idea of light displayed in shop windows facing the streets. They incorporate phosphorescent pigments, which contain radioactive materials, intersecting with Fukushima, his hometown, which has nuclear power plants.

The artist

Takeshi Hosaka perceives painting as an object and explores phenomena such as shadows that occur in the space where they are displayed, creating works with geometric shapes on three-dimensional supports. Recently, he has been using wooden frames with stretched canvas as supports.

This is Hosaka's first solo exhibition at Almas Gallery in 12 years. He was born in Fukushima Prefecture in 1980 and graduated from the Oil Painting Department of Musashino Art University in 2003 and completed his master's degree in the Oil Painting Course of the Graduate School of Art at Musashino Art University in 2005.
