The Women of the Battlefield: Reimagined

This exhibition features paintings derived from video works originally presented in The Women of the Battlefield, his exhibition at eitoeiko in 2025.

By appropriating and contemporarily translating images from these historical paintings, Chen Ching Yao's work invites viewers to reflect on the formation of contemporary society through the lens of modern art history.

Born in Taipei in 1976, Chen received his M.F.A. from Taipei National University of the Arts in 2006. He is the recipient of the Taiwan Emerging Artist Award and the Grand Prize of the Taipei Arts Award. In 2009, he was awarded a grant from the Asian Cultural Council (ACC) and resided in New York.
